Electrolytes? How important are they?

Electrolytes are essential minerals that play a crucial role in our body's daily functions. As women, We’ve learned the importance of staying hydrated, especially during exercise or on hot days. Electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium help maintain fluid balance, muscle function, and nerve signaling. Without them, we can feel fatigued, dizzy, or even experience muscle cramps. Low levels of electrolytes can even cause irregular heartbeats. Studies have found that electrolytes aid in damaged tissue repair.

Ensure that your hydration routine includes electrolyte-rich drinks or supplements, particularly after intense workouts or during menstruation, when your body needs extra support to maintain energy and overall well-being.

Our favorite electrolyte drink mixes are LMNT and Re-lyte. Both can be purchased in our clinic. Flavors include Orange, Citrus, Melon, Mixed Berry and Raspberry. We prefer these two brands due to the no sugar and clean ingredients. Grab a drink mix stick the next time you are in the neighborhood!
