Ankle Sprains

A lot of us are familiar with ankle sprains. Because they are so common, many don’t seek treatment. Well....

A previous ankle sprain puts you at risk for recurrent sprains. Not completing a balance/proprioceptive prevention program increases risk even more.

Risk of ankle sprains decrease if: complete warm up and wear an ankle brace.

Most ankle sprains occur on the outside of the foot.

Swelling, decreased range of motion, and difficulty standing on one leg may occur with a sprain.

What to work on: ankle range of motion, normalize walking, balance, and strength, stability, and power on the affected foot.

Ps: Different hopping tests may be used to clear athletes to return to sport!
